The Rainbow Serpent

At the ending of the storm
I sprang forth
Brilliantly flashing in seven colors
I circled in the sky
I touched the earth lightly
Where I touched
Shrubs, trees, and plants
Emerged from the soil.
Several small mice crawled
Out of the glowing earth
And vanished among the tree roots.
In a burst of red light
A majestic jaguar materialized
From the lifegiving earth
I flew into the sky
And watched over my domain
Then I saw the havoc wreaked
By loggers in the rainforest
Before my eyes several small frogs
were crushed, a bear hunted
Here I departed.
